Best Digital Saver
Digital bank offering competitive easy-access and fixed-rate savings. Originally a peer-to-peer lender, now a fully licensed bank with FSCS protection.
Zopa spent a decade as the UK's best-known peer-to-peer lender before exiting that business entirely and becoming a licensed bank. The savings products it offers now are conventional deposits, not loans to strangers.
That distinction matters, because the Zopa name still carries P2P associations. Today's savings accounts are FSCS-protected in the ordinary way.
Who it suits. Savers who want competitive rates with more flexibility than a standard fixed-term account. Zopa's Smart Saver structure, which lets you split a balance into separately managed pots with different access terms, is genuinely well designed.
Worth knowing. The pot structure rewards a bit of active management — leaving everything in the default easy-access pot means leaving return on the table. Zopa is app-first, though less rigidly so than Atom.
