Barclays Remortgage review

Best Remortgage

Competitive remortgage deals with free legal work and valuation on many products. Smooth switching process for existing Barclays customers.

Barclays is one of the larger remortgage lenders, and its appeal is less about headline rates than about the breadth of situations it will actually lend in.

Remortgaging is where lender flexibility matters most. You are usually working to a deadline — the end of a fixed term — and a lender that declines late is expensive in a way that a slightly better rate does not compensate for.

Who it suits. Borrowers with reasonably conventional circumstances who want a lender with a large product range and the capacity to handle applications at volume. Existing Barclays customers may find the process faster.

Worth knowing. Barclays runs a product transfer route for existing borrowers that is considerably simpler than a full remortgage, with no new affordability assessment in many cases. Compare that against moving lender before assuming a switch is worth the paperwork.
